Tritons Rowing is now hiring coaches to help our growing organization further its mission of promoting high school and middle school rowing in Northern Michigan.
No Rowing Experience Required
Qualifications:
Ability to interact with student-athletes of different ages and skill levels in a positive and professional manner
Ability to clearly explain practice plans, race plans, and technique related to the sport after completing the required coaches training
Availability to be on time to all committed practice sessions (minimum of 2 per week)
Experience teaching or coaching middle-school or high-school aged student athletes preferred but not required
Responsibilities:
Monitors and evaluates the safety of all student-athletes, equipment, and facilities
Ensures adherence to the Code of Conduct and Core Values of our team
Follows the prescribed training plan or race plan for each coached session
Provides clear and professional communication with all coaches, parents, and student-athletes
Works cooperatively with all Tritons Rowing coaches, board members, parents, and student-athletes to ensure a healthy, positive team culture
Successful Applicants Must
Pass a Background Check
Have or obtain a First Aid/CPR/AED certification – Course Cost Plus 1 Hour Paid Training To Be Reimbursed Upon Successful Completion
Have or obtain a Boaters Safety Certificate – Course Cost Plus 3 Hours Paid Training To Be Reimbursed Upon Successful Completion
Have or obtain a USRowing Membership (Basic or above) – Basic Membership Cost To Be Reimbursed Annually
Complete SafeSport training through your USRowing member profile – 1.5 Hours Paid Training Upon Successful Completion
Complete Level 1 Certified Coach training through your USRowing member profile – Course Cost Plus 3 Hours Paid Training To Be Reimbursed Upon Successful Completion
Shadow our current coaches for 5 practice sessions – Paid Training Upon Successful Completion
Coaches Will Receive
Access to club-owned equipment for personal use
$20/hr for all paid training and coached practice sessions
Travel per-diem, accommodations, and a race day stipend for traveling regattas (traveling to races is encouraged but not required)
An Under Armor coaches jacket and polo
Continuing education through the Scholastic Rowing Association of Michigan’s annual coaching conference
The knowledge they are having a profound impact on the lives of local-area youth
Paid USRowing Level 2 Certified Coach training and a USRowing Championship Membership are available after two seasons of coaching
Paid USRowing Level 3 Certified Coach training is available after four seasons of coaching
